641 - Art Therapy Supervision

In this course, students will refine and build upon professional, clinical, therapeutic, and art therapy skills established in first year supervision. They continue to diversify their learning in the field through a range of placements in different contexts, facilitating both group and individual art therapy. Students learn to use arts-based supervision to ground their art therapy practice in a theoretical approach that is congruent, increases the effectiveness of their work and creates an interpretative framework for making sense of the therapy. They will also continue to develop insight and skill in working with the intersection of their own cultural identity and that of their clients/participants, developing trauma-informed and culturally safe art therapy skills. They continue to develop self-care practices to support ethical and professional practice.
