Emily Bagnald successfully completed the requirements for a KATI Capstone Project in a live webinar, presented on June 17th, 2020. The webinar was hosted by Kutenai Art Therapy Institute and it was promoted to the KATI community via email, Facebook and on the KATI website. In the webinar, Emily presented an illustrated introduction to art therapy, which serves as a psychoeducational tool to introduce and deepen one’s understanding of Art Therapy(AT). Emphasis was placed on potential benefits in locations where ATis lesser known, specifically the presenter’s home province of Nova Scotia. The webinar consisted of an optional art exercise for webinar participants to complete while watching; a power point presentation that included an introduction to AT, a brief history, benefits, populations, and various approaches and interventions. The presenter highlighted theories and methodologies that are central to her practice, including trauma informed, systemic, and feminist approaches.Emily’s story of learning and her own experience ofAT is weaved throughout the presentation, including images of her original art created while training to be an art therapist. The webinar concluded with a brief question and answer period. prIt was recorded and is available to KATI students and staff on the Student Hub of the KATI website.The power point slides that were presented and discussed in the webinar are included in this document.
