Location: Nelson, BC - Part-time, on-campus-based position
Description
KATI is seeking a collaborative and strategic Co-Director, Operations to help lead our nonprofit art therapy Institute. This role is instrumental in advancing KATI’s mission, ensuring operational excellence of our graduate-level art therapy diploma program, financial stability, and fostering meaningful community relationships.
Working closely with the Co-Director, Academics and the Board of Directors, you will oversee administration, finance, and strategic planning while upholding KATI’s core values of Acceptance, Respect, and Trust.

Key Responsibilities
Implementing KATI’s vision, mission, and strategic plan in collaboration with the Co-Director, Academics, and the Board of Directors.
Working collaboratively with the Co-Director, Academics, to ensure institutional effectiveness.
Ensuring financial stability through sound fiscal management, effective budgeting and strategic fundraising.
Overseeing daily operations.
Ensuring compliance with all required regulations and accreditation standards.
Reviewing and updating staff and faculty contracts and evaluations in partnership with the Co-Director, Academics.
Supervising administrative staff and coordinating program initiatives & marketing.
Developing new revenue streams and supporting initiatives for sponsorship and fundraising.
Representing KATI in the community and building partnerships with other post-secondary institutions and funding bodies to enhance program accreditation and recognition.
Qualities of the Ideal Candidate
A passionate commitment to KATI’s mission and values
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
Proven leadership and management experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
Financial acumen, including budget oversight, forecasting, and fundraising experience.
An ability to develop new and diverse revenue streams.
An understanding of art therapy in the Canadian context
An ability to work harmoniously with all KATI’s stakeholders
A collaborative mindset, good listening skills, and a sense of humor
Qualifications & Skills
Master’s degree or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of management experience, with at least 3 years in the non-profit sector
Expertise in finance, budgeting, and operations, ideally within education or the non-profit sector
Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills
Knowledge or willingness to learn about transformational learning, anti-oppressive practices, and trauma-informed approaches
Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and stakeholder engagement
Proficiency with a variety of digital tools, including Microsoft 365.
Part-Time, On-Campus Position in Nelson, BC
Hours and compensation will be determined based on qualifications.
Flexibility and availability required during the academic year (September to May).
