504 - Relational Art Therapy and Human Development Across the Life Span
4 credits / 40 hours
In this course, students will examine theories of human development that explore the formation of self and identity, in the context of relationships, and how these concepts can be applied to the practice of art therapy. A relational-developmental approach to working across the life span will be examined in the context of various developmental theories. There will be an emphasis on the neurobiology of attachment and its implications for trauma-informed therapy with children and adolescents. Cultural implications of developmental theory will also be considered.
